FCR Electrical on site at Brent Cross fit out

LONDON BRENT CROSS FLIP OUT ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION AND REMEDIAL WORKS

FCR Electrical on site at Brent Cross fit out

FCR Electrical had been recommended by one of the fit our contractors who was working on the Brent Cross Flip out trampoline venue. Flip Out needed some urgent electrical remedial works completing whilst the main fit out was being carried out following on from an unsatisfactory EICR report.

Who Are Flip Out?

If you have kids, I am sure you are aware of Flip Out and the fun the kids can have at these venues. If you are not familiar with Flip Out. Flip Out are The UK’s leading adventure and trampoline park operators.

They have 29 venues across the UK from Glasgow in Scotland all the way down to Ashford in Kent. Follow the link here for more details and locations https://www.flipout.co.uk/

What Is An EICR Inspection?

If you are wondering what an EICR or Electrical Installation Condition Report is. An EICR is an electrical report carried out on an electrical installation to evaluate if the installation is in a safe enough condition for it’s continued use.

There are laws and rules in place as when an EICR should be carried out and how often. Your insurance company may also have their own recommendations on how often an updated EICR should be carried out

Follow this link to a commercial EICR we carried out earlier in the year https://www.fcrelectrical.co.uk/commercial-eicr-out-of-hours-in-liverpool/

Commercial Electrical Installation Work

Having been asked if we could help within the very tight timeframe to carry out these works, we jumped at the chance.

The initial work involved installing 11 x 16-amp radial circuits within the venue to power the new ginormous inflatable adventure that was being installed, this thing is massive and looks a great bit of fun. This work was carried out during the main fit out works. On completion we provided all the necessary certification to go with the work carried out.

Whilst our team Charlie and James were on site, FCR was approached about the unsatisfactory EICR remedial works that needed to be carried.

If these remedials were not carried out then it could impact the venue on opening, with the kids six weeks holidays only days away FCR jumped into action.

As soon as we had the work order in place, we had the materials sent straight down to site and got working on the list of remedials, the electrical remedial works were completed within four days and a satisfactory electrical EICR report was issued.

Brent Cross is now open for lots of fun.

If you have a commercial venue and would like to book an EICR or discuss what your needs may be fill out the below form now and one of our engineers will give you a call.

COMMERCIAL EICR OUT OF HOURS IN LIVERPOOL

FCR had the pleasure of providing our client Motor Range in Liverpool with their 5 yearly EICR electrical inspection.

Why do you need to carry out an EICR?

An EICR or Electrical Inspection Condition Report is a type of report that evaluates the condition of your electrical installation for safe continued use. Usually an EICR is recommended every five years although it is best to check with your business insurance provider as this can change, we have seen some request an EICR carried out every three years. Caravan sites it is recommended every 12 months!

      Out Of Hours

This project had to be carried out during the hours that the business is closed. Their opening hours are 9.00am to 8.00pm. There are also many computers in the building so special care needed to be taken to avoid any damage or loss of data.

      Who Are Motor Range?

Motor Range are a car and van sales outlet based on Dunnings Bridge Road in Merseyside. They are Merseyside’s largest motor vehicle stockists with over 1500 vehicles on site. Their sales staff are experts in the motor industry and were very helpful and friendly to our staff whilst carrying out our EICR. If you are in the market for a new van or car you can check them out here https://www.motorrange.co.uk/

Our electrical technicians carried the inspection work out over 4 nights along with a further day in our office typing up the report.

Whilst completing the inspections, it was agreed with the Motor Range management that any remedials found that needed repairing would be carried out at the same time, this will help with cost as all work had to be carried out during closed hours.

The electrical installation was a new installation being carried out in 2016, the original electrical contractor did a great installation using quality wiring accessories such as Schneider distribution boards and MK sockets and switches. Using quality wiring accessories helps with keeping maintenance costs down in the long run as they are durable and have a longer life under heavy usage.

On completion of the EICR we issued a satisfactory certificate which is valid for 5 years

If your business is in need of an EICR electrical condition report please complete our form for more details on how FCR Electrical can help your business stay compliant at a reasonable cost.

Are You Looking For Commercial Electrical Contractors In Lancashire?

So, you are searching for a commercial electrical contractor, what things should you be looking for?

Commercial electrical services are different and can be more technical than standard domestic services. When choosing your commercial electrical contractor, these are the five things we think you should be considering and asking them.

        1. Is the electrical contractor registered with the NICEIC as an approved contractor? There are other schemes available such as Napit registration, however, the NICEIC approved contractor scheme is the benchmark for commercial and industrial electrical contractors. Each registered contractor has a registration number, Our number is 617331
        2. Is your commercial electrical contractors insured for the correct work? One area where sometimes the contractor may not be insured is for 3 phase electrical installation. You should be able to check this easily on your electrical contractor’s insurance certificate.
        3. Are the commercial electrical contractors experienced in commercial electrical work? Domestic and commercial electrical work is very different with a whole host of different hazards. Isolating 3 phase machines, working in 3 phase distribution boards and commercial electrical testing are some areas where you need experienced electrical contractors. Ask your electrical contractor who will be carrying out the work and what experience the technicians have.
          • Is your commercial electrical contractor experienced in fire alarms and emergency lighting? Fire alarms are designed, installed and maintained under different British standards, BS-5839-6:2019+2020, emergency lighting falls under BS-5266 8 2004. Working on these systems can add additional hazards in your commercial building, ask if your contractor has experience working on your systems.
          • Can your commercial electrical contractor demonstrate past commercial electrical projects? Your contractor should be able to evidence past projects and talk you though a couple of past projects. This will give you confidence in the company’s skills and experience to carry out your commercial electrical project.

            Industrial Warehouse Rewiring In Warrington

This week one of our FCR Electrical teams have been over in Warrington completing a warehouse rewire.

This property has recently been moved into from a neighbouring warehouse and our clients Plastichem Limited needed the move to be as smooth and problem free as possible so as not to disrupt manufacturing. To learn more about our clients Plastichem you can check out their website here http://www.plastichem.co.uk/

Our first task was to agree a layout of the new building as to where all the machines and equipment was going to be sited and relocated to

Once the positions had been agreed, we had a walk round with the site supervisor discussing the plans for the rewire.

To get this warehouse up to spec for the new tenants we rewired all circuits that was required for the machinery. Most circuits were wired in steel wired armoured. We also installed two additional three phase distribution panels, 110v socket circuits and carried out an EICR electrical inspection on completion.

Our clients move into the premises has gone without too many issues which enabled them to carry on with manufacturing.

When rewiring industrial units it is always best practice to inspect the current installation first by carrying out a full EICR of the electrics. This will identify the initial condition of the installation  and flag up any problems or potential electrical dangers.

If you require additional sockets or lighting depending on the age it is usually best to rewire the circuits, doing this ensures there is no electrical faults in the future which could disrupt your business activities. Once rewired and in service, if you carry out regular electrical inspections to the installation you should have trouble free electrics minimising down time.

If you are considering rewiring your business premises then please fill in the below form to arrange a free consultation. You can check out other commercial installations here https://www.fcrelectrical.co.uk/sika-plastics-training-building-socket-upgrades/

SIKA PLASTICS TRAINING BUILDING SOCKET UPGRADES

This week our commercial electricians Jordan and Louie were back at Sika plastics training facility to install extra sockets in the workshop area.

Sika launched in the UK roofing business 60 years ago, Sika are the market leaders in cold-applied liquid waterproofing technology for roofs, walkways, balconies and terraces. For more information click here https://gbr.sika.com/en/construction/roofing/about-us/history.html

We originally installed the electrical installation to this training building in August 2020 which was during covid. To read more about this project click here https://www.fcrelectrical.co.uk/sika-plastics-preston-new-training-facility-building/

Our clients required some metal clad double sockets installing around the perimeter of the building with the cables contained within galv conduit. The sockets were to be wired in four 32 amp RCD protected radial circuits.

When we originally installed the Schneider distribution board we ensured there was plenty of spare ways for future electrical installations as the training facility evolved.

All of the electrical installations have been issued with an electrical installation certificate

                HIGH BAY FAULTY LIGHTING

This week Jordan and Louie were in Warrington helping one of our clients with fault finding on some high bay lighting in their warehouse

We had previously been contracted to replace the office in grid ceiling lights with energy efficient led lights. Whilst there it was brought to our attention that they had a lighting fault on the high bay lighting in the main warehouse.

The work involved working at height, so we hired a cherry picker for the task.

Whilst looking at the lights our client took the decision to replace the lights with new Ansell led high bay light fittings. The existing lights are 400w son fittings which are old not very energy efficient. With the cost of energy spiralling especially for commercial customers upgrading to LED makes sense commercially and environmentally.

Our guys managed to rectify the fault and replace the lighting leaving our clients happy

INSTALLATION OF A NEW 95 AMP THREE PHASE CNC MACHINE

This week Jordan and Andy have been involved with the installation of a new three phase CNC machine at Deltec Industries based on Poulton Industrial Estate.

Deltec Industries have been manufacturing impact sockets, accessories and specialist tools in various industries such as oil and gas, wind and automotive for more than 40 years. To find out more about Deltec Industries please click here https://www.deltecindustries.co.uk/ for their website.

Before the machine could be installed, we had to upgrade one of the three phase distribution board to accommodate the new machine. For this we chose to install a new 8-way Contactum board. This work had to be carried out on a Friday afternoon after the manufacturing staff had finished for the week.

Once we had installed the board, we needed to pull in a new 35mm 5 core armoured cable, this spec was requested by the manufacturer of the machine. Pulling in a 35mm armoured cable is heavy work, Jordan and Andy made light work of it though. Once the cable was glanded and terminated we carried out the electrical testing.

We are now awaiting the manufacturers team to come to site where FCR will work alongside to commission the machine and prepare it for hand over to the client.

If you are needing commercial or industrial electrical services FCR Electrical & Mechanical LTD have you covered, we offer a full commercial and industrial installation, maintenance and inspection service. Our technicians have worked on various projects from shops, health clubs, oil and gas rigs, hazardous area sites and manufacturing sites. CARAVAN SITE SUB MAINS ELECTRICAL UPGRADE

FCR were contracted by North Country Leisure to upgrade the sub mains to the original side of the caravan park.

This project started off tricky as the supply cables were buried in the ground and we did not have the exact locations of the buried cables.

With some great help from the park manager Mark, we expertly pinpointed the cables. The supply cables all required extending as the new site mains cabinet was being moved to a more suitable location.

Once the main cables had been extended Ash and Charlie installed the new mains cabinet in the ground, this involved some concrete, uni-strut and some brut strength as these cabinets are not the lightest.

Inside the cabinet we installed a 16-way Schneider single phase consumer unit https://www.se.com/uk/en/work/products/product-launch/easy9/ , the site chose Schnieder as the rest of the park have Schneider installed and it is a very reliable brand.

Each van was protected by a 16-amp 30 milliamp RCBO. On this site, the client prefers to have the caravan meters installed inside the site cabinets as opposed to installing them within the caravan meter boxes. Ash installed the meters nice and neatly within the cabinet.

Time was not on our side for this installation as the site had to have the power restored and up and running by 5.00pm as had been agreed with the lodge owners, we managed to switch the site back on with around 30mins spare time.

If you are a leisure park manager or owner and are looking for a reliable electrical contractor to carry out your caravan park electrical installation then please fill out our form below for a free chat or advice on how FCR Electrical can help.
